(Pokemon) Chance Encounter (ReaderxVarious) 2

"Aww , my baby is all grown up~." Your mother gushed as she smothered you in a hug. Lyra and Ethan snickered to themselves as your mother held you tighter and kissed the top of your head.

You blushed a little , embarrassed that she was doing this in front of your friends , but hugged her back nonetheless. You were going on an adventure and a long one at that. You guys even planned to go to different regions too. Filling up a Pokedex , getting gym badges , and competing in contests would take a lot of work and time. Time away from your ditzy yet lovable mother.

You smiled a bit while hugging your mother back.  Yeah , you'd miss this. Your mother sniffed and gently pushed you back. Giving you full view of her tear streaked face.

"Ok (Nickname), As much as I want you to stay , I have to let you go sometime.~." she sniffed again. She dug into your bag, pulling out your  Pokegear , tapping in her number.

"Here sweetie. Call anytime you need me." she gave you a little grin and pushed you toward the door.

You nodded your head , following your friends out the door. Ethan coughed awkwardly while Lyra smiled sadly at you.

Ethan suddenly came in between you two  throwing his arms around both your shoulders.

"Talk about an emotional leave. My mom was damn well excited to see me off." he chuckled at you and Lyra's sullen faces.


"Come on girls, we're finally of on an adventure! Let's start acting like it!"

Lyra scoffed and poked Ethan in the ribs causing him to squeal. "Idiot. Can't exactly start an adventure when it's pitch black outside."

Your head shot to the sky which was in fact black as an Umbreon. When the hell did that happen?!

Lyra sighed as you stared dumbly at the heavens. "Do we even have tents , money , supplies?"

Ethan turned to you and you turned to him. You both shrugged and looked at Lyra , stupid grins on your faces.

Smacks could be heard all through NewBark Town.

"Ok , now that we have everything we need let's go." Lyra smiled back at you and Ethan. Ethan , who had a red handprint on his cheek, groaned.

"Didn't you just say it was too dark? I swear this is why I like (Name) better. She's not bipolar aND SHE DOSN'T SMAKE ME IN THE FACE!"

This earned another hit to the cheek. You laughed as your trio continued to walk down the path through Cherrygrove City. You passed the old man who gave you your running shoes. He waved at you as he walked in place. You gave him a questioning look , but shook your head. There was no way you'd understand the old bag.

"Right! This is a good spot to set up camp tonight." Lyra stated while setting down her bag.

You and Ethan cheered enthusiastically , while throwing your stuff on the ground. Your trio was close enough to Violet City , but way to tired to check in to the hotel.

"Aww~ How sweet is this? We haven't slept under the stars since we were 10!" Ethan chimed, pulling out his sleeping bag.

Lyra shook her head while she finished up the tent that Ethan failed to notice.

"Sorry E , You'll be sleeping under the stars. Me and (Nickname) are staying in the tent."

Ethan sputtered for a bit , then turned to you asking a silent question: "You guys are ditching me?!"

"Oh Ethan, It's only for the night. When we reach the next Hotel you can sleep in the same room as us." you soothed the dejected boy. He looked down at your smiling face and sighed.

"Fine, Fine, but when we do get to the hotel , I'm sleeping in the same bed as (Name)~."

You'd think Ethan would have permanent brain damage from all the beatings he gets from Lyra.

"Hey... Hey (Name) wake up." Ethan whispered as he quietly shook you awake. You grumbled a bit while yawning , blinking your eyes several times. When you came into focus you noticed Ethan was looming over you. When he noticed that you were awake a grin spread across his face.

"Ha, you're finally awake , sleepy head. C'mon, Let's go exploring~"

You sat up and rubbed your eyes. You noticed that Lyra was still sound asleep. You looked over at Ethan again who was shivering in anticipation.

"Exploring? Ethan it's still pretty dark outside. You know how I feel about the dark."

Ethan chuckled and patted your head softly.

"No need to worry (Nickname). I'll be right beside you the whole time." he held out his hand to you "See you can even hold my hand~"

You chuckled and shooed his hand away.

"Nah , I'm good. Why do you want to go exploring anyway?" you inquired while pushing him out the tent so you could get out. Once you stepped out of the tent and stood ,you stretched , looking up at the clear night sky.

"I heard that the Violet City gym leader was pretty tough. Don't get me wrong , my Totodile is pretty badass , but I doubt I can just run in there with one pokemon. Same goes for you , (Name)."

You nodded in understanding. The gym leader , Falkner , used flying type pokemon. There was no way Chikorita would survive long in that sort of type disadvantage.

"Alright E , Let's go catch us some pokemon!~" you chimed.

The smile on Ethan's face couldn't have gotten any bigger.

"This is bad.. Oh god this is bad!" you stuttered as you were standing in the middle of a grass field, without your fellow companion.

Sometime after you and Ethan started to search for pokemon , Ethan caught sight of something dashing away from you two and like an idiot chased after it, leaving you in the dust.

You shivered as you stood in the grass. You really hated the dark especially when you were outside. Anything could pop up and get you.

As soon as that thought processed in your mind you heard a rumble in the grass behind you.

You flinched and on instinct reached for your pokeball , throwing it in the air and releasing a drowsy Chikorita.

He let out a yawn and turned towards you. Once he noticed that you were shaking in fear he was wide awake and on guard , ready to protect his master.

The rumbling in the grass suddenly stopped. You sighed in relief, glad that it was over , but a sudden yank and nibble on your hair made you shriek in terror. You twisted around to find a Misdreavus , who was currently snickering at your reaction to her prank. The red orbs around her neck glowing as it fed on your fear.

Chikorita bounced into action , charging at the ghost type pokemon , getting a direct and critical hit.

Misdreavus winced and growled at your pokemon. She was not use to acts of courage from anyone ,let alone a small Chikorita.

A sudden idea struck in your head. This was the perfect opportunity to get a new pokemon. Even if the little one scared you half to death , it seemed that she could handle her own.

You clenched your fist in determination. You were never a fan of ghost-type pokemon , them being the main reason why you hated going out at night , but Professor Oak was counting on you to fill the pokedex and you wanted to make your friends proud by showing them that your fear wouldn't over run you.

The Misdreavus was staring at you. The look of fear was no longer in your eyes , nothing but courage and determination swirled in them now. This caught the pokemon by surprise. Usually trainers and pokemon would run in fear at the sightof her, wanting nothing to do with her. All she wanted was a friend. Any type of friend , but constant rejection mae her bitter and pranking passer-byers was the only thing she ould do to make the pain go away.

But you two didn't run in fear. You both stood your ground , something that Misdreavus never witnessed before. Maybe , just maybe, you two could be the friends that she wanted. Needed.

"Chikorita , use Razor Leaf!" you pumped your fist in the air while Chika abided by your command. The razor sharp leaves hitting the ghost.

Misdreavus flinched once more , but she wasn't going to give up that easily. She wanted to show you two that she coud hold her own.

She floated back a little and used Psywave , the attack hitting Chika hard. You clenched your fists but smiled , catching the Misdreavus off guard once again.

"You're pretty strong Mis!~ You'll be a perfect addition to the team~." you turned towards your slightly injured Chikorita.

"Chikorita , I know it hurts , but I'm sure one more attack will bring Misdreavus down enough for me to catch her. Think you could do it?"

Chikorita winced at the pain , but nodded his head. He would do anything for you and if you really wanted that pokemon he'd do anything in his power to get it.

"Alright Chika use Razor Leaf one last time!" you yelled.

Chika nodded while shooting out more razor sharp leaves. Misdreavus dodged most of them , sending out more Phywaves. Chika dodged every single one , while he continued to throw leaves.

Finally, a barrage of them hit the ghost sending her to the ground. You quickly got out a pokeball that Lyra gave you and threw it at the pokemon.

The pokeball engulfed Misdreavus. The ball shook a few times before you heard a click , signaling that the pokemon was now yours.

You stared in shock. You've just caught your first pokemon and she was no doubt a very strong one. You looked down at your tired out Chikorita , who was walking towards the pokeball. He nudged it over to you , a grin on his face.

You cheered , while picking up the poke ball.

"We did it , Chika! We caught our very first pokemon!~"

"Chiko~!"

"Gah! When I find that idiot , he is gonna pay!" You shouted. Once you got off your high of actually catching a pokemon , your fear of the dark came rushing back. You decided that standing in one place wouldn't help your situation , so you started to trudge in the direction that Ethan ran off to.

You then noticed that there was an explosion in the distance , followed by a familiar voice shouting "Bubblebeam"

You rushed off in the direction of Ethan's voice , your adrenaline pumping. When you finally reached a clearing , you noticed Ethan picking up a pokeball a silly grin on his face. He had yet to notice your figure hurdling at him at an impossible speed. He did notice , however, when you had wrapped your arms around him, and you burying your face in his chest.

Ethan stumbled back in shock , a blush coloring his face when he noticed it was you.

"(N-Name)!" Ethan stammered. "Are you hurt! What's the matter"

Your arms tightened around him and you let out a shuttered breath. "Y-you idiot! Did you suddenly forget that I hate the dark!" You mumbled in his chest , barely audible , but Ethan caught every word.

He wrapped his arms around you , bringing you closer.

"Oh god, (Name), I'm so stupid. I was so busy catching my Crobat that I forgot you."

He placed his head in on the top of yours  tears threatening to spill out. He hated seeing you so frightened. He was so caught up with catching the Crobat , he forgot how terrified you were of the dark. He pulled you even closer.

"Don't worry , (Name). I'll never leave you again. I promise."

You sniffed and nodded your head. You pulled back and stared up at the serious expression on his face. A rare sight.

A smile formed on your face as you playfully punched him on the arm , shocking him.

"Don't look so serious , E. I'm fine , really I am . And I caught a Misdreavus when you were catching your Crobat. We got the job done so let's go back before Lyra notices we're gone.~"

You intertwined your fingers with his , yanking him in the direction of your camp. You never noticed the pink that tinged on his cheeks or the way that he was staring at you.

A new emotion bubbling inside of him.
